I'm glad I found a recommendation for this book online! For those looking for good writing tips for college essays, this one is a must! The book is not boring, very well written and it brings great examples of success! Highly recommended!! Note: When you read it with attention you can extract from it a nice portion of knowledge. It's not a "step by step" thing, it's something for those who can read beyond words.

I'm not a Harvard student, but I wish one day I can get there. This is a fantastic book for learning about what makes a great college essay. I love that there is a profile about each author as well as a review of each essay. You learn a lot about some of the qualities an admissions counselor likes to see in a college essay. This book also gives you great ideas for topics to write about. Essays are helpful to read but the commentary is even more helpful.

My sister used it in conjunction with the Teamharvard application essay course, and got into Harvard and Stanford. This book also provides the grades and SAT scores of the students you wrote the essays. Many of them do not have the best test scores. It is encouraging to know what matters most is how well you write the application essay, not just the cold hard grades and scores.
