Literature , most generically, is any body or collection of written works. More restrictively, literature refers to writing considered to be an art form or any single writing deemed to have artistic or intellectual value, and sometimes deploys language in ways that differ from ordinary usage. The concept has changed meaning over time to include texts that are spoken or sung oral literature , and non-written verbal art forms.

In literature and other artistic media, a mode is an unspecific critical term usually designating a broad but identifiable kind of literary method , mood , or manner that is not tied exclusively to a particular form or genre. Kinds of poetry, he writes, may be differentiated in three ways: according to their medium of imitation , according to their objects of imitation, and according to their mode or 'manner' of imitation section I. I was writing Lorrie Moore knock-off short stories before I switched to nonfiction. The volume of writing has allowed me to branch out into nonfiction articles as well. I feel unmotivated to work on the short story, rather than do nothing, I simply switch to the novel draft or a nonfiction article. But Dyer, in all his wide range—four novels and six, yes, genre-defying works of nonfiction —can indeed be classified. In addition, a large library of books on fiction and nonfiction subjects is maintained. Whether fiction or nonfiction , as claimed by the author, this book realizes the relationships between Plains Indian and buffalo.
