Most homework assigned to children requires parental assistance. Homework helps students test their abilities and recognize the part of the lesson that they are facing problems with.

Students also get the opportunity to think independently. Homework is considered important because it promotes practicing what has been taught at school. Students get the opportunity to improve through practice and participation.

In a way, homework helps students prepare for their term exams. Learning happens through practice and when children do their homework regularly, in essence, they are eventually learning and ppractiing for their final exams. Apart from learning, homework also helps students understand the importance of punctuality.

When students are given deadline to complete their homework, it encourages them to organize their time better. After long hours of lessons in school, children need to take their minds off their studies and relax for some time.

However, they cannot relax when they always have the pressure of completing homework on their minds. Too much homework sometime leads to a loss of interest in learning. If children are often under stress, they cannot refresh their minds and bodies and they eventually lose interest in learning.

Children feel stressed and frustrated when they fail to complete their homework on time. More over they may be completing it only to escape punishment, not to learn from it. While yes, homework is good for children because it makes them practice, homework also means a lot of work for the teacher who gives it out. The average teacher at least teaches 2 grades.

Even if both the classes have only 30 students each, imagine correcting 60 or so notebooks each day! Homework limits the time children spend with their families.
