Paper Bag Book Reports
Recently our 2nd and 3rd grade class presented their last book reports of the year. The students read a fiction book of their choice. Then on one side of a paper bag they drew a picture to illustrate a scene from their story along with the title and author. On the backside of the paper bag, they wrote out the main characters, supporting characters, setting, conflict, and resolution.
Inside the bag, the students placed items that represented parts of their story or the characters in their story. They then brought the paper bags to class and took turns presenting their book, their paper bag, and the items in the bag. The Books. I heard about Pippi Longstocking with her one tall sock and one short sock and her unusual strength to pick up her horse, whom she kept on her front porch.
The Response. There are two things I always enjoy about attending these book reports. One is the pride the students show in their work and the improvement they make each time.
