The lyrics of American pop are easy to understand and have a close relation with daily life. Parts of them originate in religion and life. Americans are more focused on the skills of singing or performing but do not much care about where pop music performances take place.
For example, when you walk in New York, there are a lot of performances in the streets and you can more easily and closely appreciate music than a big concert even though they also have big concerts of super stars. Freedom and nature are key topics in American pop music. American pop is performed by individual performers and also bands or groups, which are more numerous than other countries. Another typical type of pop music is Korean pop music, which is also called K-pop by most Korean people.
The lyrics are easy to learn or understand. Dancing with singing is the most typical characteristic of K-pop and most K-pop songs are famous all over the world because of their dance, such as Gangnam style. Thus, it is better to see a video of a song than to only hear the song. In addition, K-pop lyrics are repetitive and easy to remember. Usually, K-pop is performed by groups and the number of musicians in a group varies.
For example, some groups have just two members while some groups have more than ten people. In the latter groups, not all members are good at singing. Some of them are good at dancing or are just in the group because of their pretty appearance. Furthermore, K-pop music pays more attention to flashy stage performances. Special hair-styles, beautiful clothes and excellent acoustics are part of these performances.
Lastly, Chinese pop music also has special characteristics. Its rhythm is often slow and gentle. Rap and fast songs are not accepted by most Chinese people because they prefer listening to gentle songs. Also the lyrics are totally different from American and Korean. Chinese people like more complicated and meaningful lyrics and both rhythm and lyrics are important elements in Chinese pop. Almost all Chinese pop songs become famous because they succeed on both sides.
As well, most Chinese pop is usually performed by individuals. There are few performances in the streets and most commonly performances are on the stages or concerts in China.
