Third Grade: Writing Sample 1

In third grade your student is responsible for completing one book report each month. I will let the students and parents know the dates as each month approaches. Attached you will find an example of a book report written by a previous third grade student and the rubric scoring system book reports are graded with. I will then grade it using the same rubric. I am also including a copy of the story map that must be thoroughly filled out before writing the book report.

The more information the student includes on the story map, the easier it will be to complete the actual book report. Each book report is four paragraphs long Characters, Setting, Problem, Solution with each paragraph having a minimum of 5 sentences. A completed book report must contain a completed story map, neatly written 4 paragraph book report, and a self-graded rubric.
