I bought this book along with the Barron's Review book to assist me in studying for the rather rigorous AP World exam. After successfully completing the course and exam, I would recommend these different books for different types of studying.

The Princeton Review is much better used as a review rather than a fact-packed supplemental guide as I believe Barron's is. Also, this book contains lots of test taking strategies, and how to actually write the 3 types of essays we are required to know how to compose something I was NOT taught in class!

This portion of the book is much more in depth than the Barron's Review. Overall though, if you're looking for a comprehensive review, go with Barron's; if you just need to refresh major ideas, I highly recommend this one. Either way, these books will help you if you're trying to get a 4 or 5 on the exam!

No product can ever "crack" an AP examination, but as a supplemental study aide "nutshell," this one - and the one by Patrick Whelan - stand out. While not suitable for use in the classroom, it will provide students an invaluable study aide for not only the AP exam itself, but classroom examinations as well.

However, since changes in this field have been coming quickly of late, I would use one that is not more than three 3 years old relative to the academic year in which the class is taken. This book, and others like it published prior to that date, will likely NOT be as helpful without major revisions.

This is not to say that the practice examinations and the study nutshells will not be of use, but their usefulness in terms of exam preparation will likely be, of course, more limited. One person found this helpful. I used this book to study for my Praxis teaching exam and it was extremely useful. The information isn't presented in a dry or boring manner and that made my hours of studying much better.

There were quite a few helpful charts and practice questions in each section that helped me to keep the information straight. This older edition worked just fine for me and saved me a few dollars too. I've prepared for many standardized tests over the years, and almost always, the Princeton Review study guides are among my favorites.

This particular guide was recommended by my teacher, and in complete honesty, I am very impressed by how useful and friendly it was. Not only does the book explain how to tackle each section of the exam, but it also includes a concise review of each time period BCE - CE; - ; - ; - ; - Present.

The writing style is conversational and easily understandable--completely different from a normal textbook. Plus, there's a timeline of major developments at the end of each chapter. I have to say that one or two of the Princeton Review's practice questions seemed a little bit strange. Over all, though, going through the practice multiple choice questions definitely prepared me, and I also think this study guide contributed to my very high A in the class.

Plus, I took the AP exam about two or three weeks ago, and partly thanks to this book, the exam seemed fairly easy. Of course, I haven't received my scores yet Although this book isn't perfect, it comes pretty close. If you know you want a study guide, the Princeton Review is probably your best choice. This book is does a pretty good job reviewing all the information you need. I read through it twice, a full month before the exam and the night right before the test.

Oh so much fun It helps you with understanding the big picture and has some tough practice exams. The way the author writes is very easy to understand. The timelines at the end of each chapter were pretty helpful, though it did not have any review questions. You should actually read through this book more than just 2 times; I had trouble remembering everything on the test. Good study book!!! Ended up getting a 4, considering I though I would fail it.

This is the best review and APWH test preparation that exists!! You will enjoy the style and the voice of the author, and this review will not be dry or boring like your textbook may be ; This is not to say that you should substitute this review book for studying your notes and reading your text, because that will not work well for you, but it is a great memory jogger and maybe a great way to help you understand the most important trends and relationships that your textbook covers in more depth.

Buy it if you plan to take the AP Exam!!! I love the Princeton Review guides - they are always easy to understand, straightforward, and a lot of times actually interesting to read.

I decided to purchase this guide for World History AP Test when I found out that I had a really bad teacher who had never taught the course before. Though I really didn't learn anything from my teacher, I studied this book cover-to-cover for a couple months before the test, and guess what?
