Advanced Placement AP. If you're planning to take the AP English Literature and Composition exam, you'll need to get familiar with what to expect on the test. Whether the test date of Wednesday, May 13, is near or far, I'm here to help you get serious about preparing for the exam. In this guide, I'll go over the test's format and question types, how it's graded, best practices for preparation, and test-day tips.

The AP English Literature exam for will be shorter, administered online, cover less material, and have a different format than previous tests. Here are the key changes you need to know to do well in the upcoming AP English Literature exam. For decades, colleges have accepted a shortened AP Exam for college credit when groups of students have experienced emergencies.
As in previous years, a student must obtain a score of 3, 4 or 5 to be eligible for college credit. The online AP English Literature exam will be just 45 minutes long, instead of the three hours it took in previous years, and can be taken at home if schools are still closed on exam day or at school.
There will be no multiple choice questions as there were in the past. For free examples of free-response questions, check here for the actual questions posed in the AP English Literature exam and here for those posed in the AP English Literature exam. You can take the exam on any device you have access to, including a computer, tablet or a smartphone. You should make the determination of which device works best for you beforehand.
If you need access to the internet or a working computer, contact the College Board here for help. Working with partners, we will invest so that these students have the tools and connectivity they need to review AP content online and take the exam. The AP Literature exam will consist of just one prose fiction analysis question. Check here for a description of the question. You will have 45 minutes to read and respond to the question and another five minutes to upload your response.
Note: Unless you have a scheduling conflict, you should plan on taking your AP English Literature exam on the primary date. The Cram Pass includes 10 live-streamed lessons or cram sessions, which are about an hour long but may sometimes be longer if there are extra questions from students, downloadable replays, and practice prompts and feedback. Fiveable cram teachers will tailor their sessions to align with the changes in the AP English Literature exam. For now, cram sessions are scheduled for every Thursday at 8 p. Fiveable will add May dates once the College Board announces the test date and add five stream dates on April 3.

New Format Online AP English Literature Study Guide – 2020 Changes
Note that any related adjustments to AP Exams, such as length or content covered, may not be reflected on all AP Central pages. While the accompanying scoring worksheet accounts for the changes to the exam, the cut score ranges may not fully align with the exam standards. You continue to have access to the international and exams. Their free-response questions and scoring guidelines have also been modified to align with the exam. All are available as secure practice exams on the AP Course Audit site and as individual secure questions in the question bank. As a reminder, these exams are most appropriate for student practice late in the school year, as the exam date approaches.
