Free writing

Free writing has traditionally been seen as a prewriting technique in academic environments, in which a person writes continuously for a set period of time without worrying about rhetorical concerns or conventions and mechanics, sometimes working from a specific prompt provided by a teacher. Free writing is not the same as automatic writing. Unlike brainstorming where ideas are simply listed, in freewriting one writes sentences to form a paragraph about whatever comes to mind. Dorothea Brande was an early proponent of freewriting. In her book Becoming a Writer , she advises readers to sit and write for 30 minutes every morning, as fast as they can. The technique involves continuous writing, usually for a predetermined period of time often five to fifteen minutes. The writer writes without regard to spelling, grammar, etc. If the writer reaches a point where they can't think of anything to write, it is presumed they will write that they can't think of anything or repeat words, until they find another line of thought. The writer freely strays off topic, letting thoughts lead where they may.

Write.freely New User's Guide

Having been using the wonderful Write. Wish I had seen it earlier, as I did not find much information to learn from when I started. The Guide was prepared by Ange , and meant to help people interested in using the write. Since there's not much documentation, I thought it useful and an interesting project to take Ange's Guide and prepare an English translation, post it on my blog and spread the word. Original posted at TeDomum Wiki Documentation. Raw html was copied from source above; then patiently paginated for human consumption and cleaned up. Most html tags were removed, replaced with MarkDown equivalents; much nicer to use! I have really enjoyed discovering the simplicity and power of MarkDown -- learned a lot with the wonderful, interactive Tutorial Guide page. An interesting project, diving into this and seeing the complex code generated by the Wiki for a typical page. Write Freely allows you to create blogs connected to the Fediverse.
